Since 1 January 2007 the EnergyAgency.NRW has been the joint umbrella organisation for the "NRW Energy Agency" and the "NRW State Initiative on Future Energies" with their previously separate operations. This has created a strategic platform with wide-ranging competence in the energy domain: from the all-through funding of research, technical development, demonstration and market launch to energy consultancy and continuous vocational training. In times of high energy prices it is more important than ever to forge ahead with the development of innovative energy technologies in NRW and to indicate, from an impartial standpoint, ways in which companies, local authorities, private individuals can handle the increasingly precious asset of energy more economically or make meaningful use of renewable energies. The EnergyAgency.NRW will, through Competence Networks, offer companies in the region platforms for strategic alliances. Furthermore energy consultancy services will be provided in the form of initial and contracting consulting for companies and administrations, as well as information and continuous training services for specialists and private individuals. The Agency"s field of work also includes courses to train user behaviour.
In the focal areas of "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energies for Companies and Local Authorities" "Energy-Efficient and Solar Construction", "Innovative Power Plants ", "Biomass", "Fuels and Drive Systems of the Future", "Fuel Cells and Hydrogen " and "Solar Energy" great efforts are being made to advance technical innovations and to forge ahead with know-how transfer between science and industry, a comprehensive range of consultancy and continuous training services are being offered and companies from NRW are being given support in matters of foreign trade. The EnergyAgency.NRW is therefore available as a central contact point for all matters related to the subject of energy.
Some instruments of the new EnergyAgency.NRW:
In Competence Networks for companies, higher education institutions and research centers the activities of the EnergyAgency.NRW are concentrated on forging ahead with innovation processes in NRW, paving the way for co-operations and strategic alliances and speeding up market launches for innovative products nationally and internationally.
By providing initial consultancy, engineers from the EnergyAgency.NRW pass on information on energy weak spots - from facility management to production processes. This ranges from the heating system and heat recovery through to insulation against heat and cold in large factory shops, from leak detection to the formulation of energy concepts. The engineers give advice on the possibility of obtaining funds, help companies to reduce energy costs and thus help enhance competitiveness.
Continuous training in energy: The EnergyAgency.NRW offers a series of continuous training seminars - including seminars for end consumers. The 50 seminars are intended for use by continuous training institutions, energy supply utilities, federations, institutions of higher education, local authorities and companies in NRW. As part of this programme "E-fit" action weeks are also offered for company workforces. With the energy knowledge portal the EnergyAgency.NRW provides an on-line platform to facilitate basic and continuous vocational training on the Internet.
State-wide campaigns such as the "Wood Pellets Action" (www.aktion-holzpellets.de) or the "NRW Heat Pump Marketplace" (www.waermepumpen-marktplatz-nrw.de) are intended to teach the general public in NRW about innovative heating technologies. By means of information brochures, a market guide, radio publicity, Internet portals, and info line people are kept up to date about these environmentally friendly heating alternatives.
