Local authorities are making the energy transition. Such complex challenges as opting out of nuclear energy and the related energy transition towards energy generation from renewable sources, together with climate change can only be mastered in cooperation with many players. Local authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia have already been active in these fields for many years and, not least thanks to their experience, they are among the most important positive factors when it comes to implementing the EU's goals for sustainable energy supply.
This event, planned by the Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in cooperation with the EnergyAgency.NRW, will show that local authorities are pioneers and multipliers. The authorities who lead the way in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency also normally motivate the general public. Our local authorities play a key role by passing on and implementing climate-related knowledge. We want to strengthen this multiplier role played by the local authorities. This event will highlight the instruments used by North Rhine-Westphalia and the impact made by positive examples.
